This is a really important point.

…te from the reading is that even with financial aid, the cost of many colleges are still too much. In my personal experience, this has led friends of mine to opt out of going away to college and instead they stayed home to attend our local community colleges or the close in-state schools. This is not to say these schools are not acceptable but it does make me sad to think their options…

This is a really important point. We don't get to know those students in this book, because it's based on a study of people who went to college not those who didn't attend.
